Mission: The Cadet Cruise
Location: Holodeck

ON:

Daniel stood outside the open Holodeck leading to the creepy haunted house at the end of 1313 Mockingbird Lane, the setting of the Annual Cadet Halloween Party. Since they were on the cruise, and away from the Academy, they were given permission to have their own while onboard the Cavalier. The house was surrounded in thunderclouds and lightening, minus the rainfall. The house itself was very old, surrounded by a tall fence, and overgrowth of weeds and plants. It was the perfect setting for a party like this.

As was customary, Daniel came in costume. He was dressed in a tucked in blue buttoned shirt, dark slacks, and boots. A leather strap over his shoulder, which was connected to a shotgun holster, and a metal gauntlet over his right hand. For those who recognized him, he was dressed up like Ash Williams from a classic horror series known as Evil Dead.

Meghan didn't go to many parties, but she did like Halloween. It took her some time to decide on a costume, going from classic monster to literary character to science...something. Finally, she found what she thought fit her personality. She also hoped it would make Daniel smile.

She was dressed in a costume resembling a scrawny dragon walking upright. A pair of spectacles sat on her nose and she was holding a book.

Daniel smiled as she approached, taking a moment to look her up and down, before placing his hands on his hips. "Let me guess... Professor Dragon Lady?!" He raised a brow as spoke, trying to hold back a laugh. He clearly didn't know what she was, but he was opened to guessing. He was sure it was something familiar to her and Daniel was eager to learn about it.

She grinned. "I'm a book wyrm. But I'll take Professor Dragon Lady." She looked him over. "I don't recognize your costume, either."

Daniel let out a chuckled as he nodded. "Okay... I see it now." He gave a smile and continued. "I'm Ash Williams. A protagonists from a horror, slash, comedy movie franchise called the Evil Dead. The Commodore is a bit of a movie buff and, when I was younger, I spent a majority of times watching them with him and my mom. Evil Dead was one of my many favorite titles."

"I've heard about the movies, but I haven't seen any." She looked him over again. "I like it."

"Come on. You'll love this." He held out his hand and waited for her to take it before leading her inside to the outside of the creepy mansion the Halloween Party was setup in. "What do you think?"

She looked around, her eyes sparking with delight. "I love it." She turned to Daniel. "Did you come up with this?"

"Yeah." He smiled "It was either here or a place called Hogwarts which is a school from a book series. I figured the other Cadets would like it better here than another school. And this looks more the Halloween feeling to it. It's called 1313 Mockingbird Lane. It’s from a very old television series called The Munster’s. Spelled with a U and not an O, which is creative considering all the main characters are monsters."

"I will have to check it out. I've heard of The Addams Family, but not this one." She squeezed his hand. "I think it's a great setting for a Halloween party."

He smiled back at her, hearing she was familiar with The Addams Family, like he was. "You know about the Addams Family?" Daniel let out a slight chuckle before nodded. "Cool. My parents actually dressed up like Gomez and Morticia for Halloween. Can you imagine... the Commodore as Gomez?"

Her eyes widened. "No. I can't." She shook her head, trying to imagine the commodore as Gomez. "I think those two were a great couple."

"Me too." Daniel smiled back. "Come on, book wyrm. Party awaits."

"Lead on, MacDuff."

Daniel laughed slightly as he walked with her through the entrance of the holodeck and up the driveway. The gates were wide open and, as they approached the main door of the house, it began to creek open on its own.

The inside of the house looked just as old as the outside, but it seemed more alive since there were already some cadets here and music was playing. There were several tables scattered about, with treats and punch bowls on it, as well as a few small games and prizes scattered about.

Saskia looked around as she walked in, wearing a long, tattered black dress, a pointy black hat and carrying a broomstick. She had gone as a witch, the sort you saw in ancient films. She had never done Halloween before, but seeing the way people talked about it, she had decided to give it a go. This was a classic thing to do from what she could gather.

Renae came in just then and spotted Saskia. "Nice costume." She was dressed up like Velma from an old cartoon called Scooby Doo. The original one, anyway. It had been redesigned and relaunched a number of times, but the original, campy as it was, was still her favorite.

"Yours...too," Saskia said with some confusion, but she appreciated the amount of orange. "Looks like you are ready for a party with that," she said, lightly.

"I hope so." Renae grinned.

Meghan waved to Renae and Saskia as she and Daniel came in. The more she saw of the mansion, the more she loved it. "Too bad we can't spend the night here."

Daniel looked around before returning his gaze to Meghan. "Maybe... we can sneak in sometime when we don't have much to do." He raised a brow a bit. "If you're interested."

"I'm interested." Then, to be sure she wasn't responding too hastily, she added, "As long as it won't get either of us in trouble--although I don't think it would, as long as we don't have anything we need to get done right away." She knew there would be down time, and she didn't mind giving up some sleep to be with Daniel.

"I'll do my best to keep us out of trouble, but I can't make any promises." Daniel replied with a smirk before adding. "But, either way... I am sure it will be worth it."
