Mission: The Cadet Cruise

[PREVIOUS]

Daniel sat there at the Captain's chair, quiet for a few seconds, before standing up to look around the bridge. He took a moment, looking at all the cadets, before focusing on Meghan and smiling. He then turned his attention to Shafin and nodded, before speaking firmly. "We're probably going to get into a fight. That's on me. It's probably not how this whole thing was planned to go, but it's where we are. I can't say we'll win, because I'm not sure, but I know we'll give them a hell of a fight. Why? Because I believe in this crew. I believe in all of you to do everything you can to hit back harder and move faster. She's an old ship... but she's our ship and she's been through a lot of fights." He looked around the bridge at everyone before adding with a smile. "What's one more to this old girl?" He patted a part of the ship and nodded. "I'll tell you what it is. Just another day in her long and brave career." He looked at the group again. "So, let's give her another win last win. Real or not, huh?"

[CONTINUED]

Tara looked at Daniel and the other bridge cadets "First, yes we will probably get into a fight; but it is not your fault Dan.' she cut herself off to return to a more formal tone "Captain, Cardassians only negotiate from a position of strength, they clearly were not in control here. They only know one alternative which is to fight. Second, they underestimated you and your ability to strike a nerve. We are all from warrior species and we do not shirk from a fight. What makes us different is that we work together to use our diverse skills to create the best advantage in combat, they only have one person's skills. Maybe we should see what the Starfleet database says about Gul Tusar and find his weakness" she was about to return her attention to the helm but paused long enough "Helm waiting for your command sir"

"I'm not sure we'll find a weakness for the Gul," Meghan said. She spent a lot of time looking through the ship's database. "We can find general information on Cardassians, but Daniel is Bajoran. He probably knows what to expect already. I stand with the captain." Plus, she was pretty sure Daniel's toad of a father was behind this. There were too many things in this scenario designed to push Daniel specifically. She would definitely find his mother and talk to her about Daniel's father.

Shafin was mostly in agreement. "Whatever we could find can be myth, legend, or fabricated," he noted. "They fake records and create monumental figures out of nothing" he stated.

"We may have one advantage that the Galor does not," said Shafin with some confidence. "We have one ship to target, but we have starfighters. They are agile, maneuverable, and may be a distraction at the very least."

"We have Starfighters?!" Daniel said as he looked around the bridge. "Why didn't anybody tell me we had Starfighters? Why am I always the last one to know about these things?" He smiled back before gesturing to the Cadet at Ops. "Let's do it. Prepare the Starfighter squadron for launch."

The Ops Cadet tapped the console and saw the channel for the Starfighter Hanger highlighted. As he reached down to tap the button to open the channel it faded slightly, showing it was either unavailable or locked. "What the hell?" He said as he tapped it, suddenly getting a message pop up.

"What is it?" Daniel asked, curiously, feeling his hope for this new plan suddenly fade. He walked up to the Ops Console and stopped by it. "What's wrong?"

"It's not working?" The Ops Cadet said as he tapped it again, but nothing happened. "It was working a second ago. I know it was, but all of a sudden, it just... locked."

"Locked?" Daniel questioned as he looked at the console and tapped on it, only to get the same thing. Just before he was about to tap it for a second time a message appeared on the screen. "The Starfighter Wing Department is not part of this scenario. This is a Bridge Crew Exer-" He stopped reading it, the look on his face shifting from confused to frustrated, as he placed his hands on his hips. He looked over to Meghan and Shafin before adding. "Signed... Commodore Murphy.." He slowly began to walk away, back to the Captain's chair, before shouting. "At this point, fighting a Borg Cube, would be less complicated!"

Shafin let out a very audible sigh. Everything he could think of, every move they could potentially make, they were cut off and blocked. He looked at Daniel and shook his head. "We're fighting against the most insidious adversary, Daniel. We're up against your father, and I have had just about enough of it" quipped the Acting First Officer. "He's your father. He raised you? What are his weaknesses?"

Emma smirked nervously at the Tactical console. "So... Do I get to shoot something now?"

Meghan turned to Shafin. "Can we start with the seven deadly sins?"

"I'm not fighting my father, Shafin!" Daniel shouted back at his Acting XO before walking over to him. "Earlier, you were telling me to ignore him and focus on the problem at hand. Now, you want me to tell you what his weaknesses are because you've finally had enough? Welcome to my world!" He approached him, trying to keep his cool, but the frustration from the whole situation they were all in was finally getting to him. He wasn't really angry at Shafin. He was mad at his father for always moving him like a chess piece on a board. By changing the rules just when Daniel through he knew a way to get the upper hand. It was annoying. It was frustrating. It was-.

His train of through was suddenly broken by the ship shaking hard. Those standing up would stumble or fall, while the crew in their seats would at least have something to hold onto to. They were just hit.

Daniel stumbled, quickly reaching for a console and holding on, but then came the second shot which knocked him off his feet and onto the ground. He laid there on the floor and looked up at the ceiling, his head hurt slightly as he must have hit it against something. As he raised his hand up to feel where it hurt, the ship shook again. "Emma! Shoot something! Shoot everything!! I don't care!!!" He shouted as he tried to get back on his feet.

Emma gripped the tactical console as she fired the phasers. "Firing phasers..." She called out as her fingers danced and glided over the controls. "I think I hit something..." she said. "Oh, incoming torpedo!"

Meghan had to grab on to her station to stay upright. Now she went back to looking at the sound waves again. The one was definitely different than the others. She isolated it to see if she could learn anything about its origin when the torpedo hit and her console exploded.

It all happened so fast. Emma announcing the torpedo. The bridge shaking again. Daniel losing his footing and his eyes briefly looking over to Meghan, only to see her face get engulfed by the explosion from the console. This time, he managed to stay on his feet, only stumbling a little. As time seemed to slow back down to normal his eyes couldn't stop looking over to the Science Console. Waiting for Meghan to stand up. "Stand up..." He said softly. "Come on, Meghan. Please stand up." Daniel repeated before shouting. "Shafin! Call for Medical!!"

Shafin did simply as instructed, though his initial instincts were to tend to Meghan himself, he remained where he was. His position in this was as First Officer. "Bridge to Sickbay, medical requested to the bridge. Medical report to the bridge."

Things were not exactly calm down in Sickbay, The Commodore was enforcing his own unique form of torture and training down there. Medical cadets were given an influx of simulated casualties to triage with various officers stumbling in through the doors as well.

Bram Castello, a Cadet in the nursing program gave Dain a quick look as Dain had been in the middle of 'surgery' at the time Shafin's summons came in. Bram gave Dain a nod, and Dain a nod in return. Bram would take the call.

"Hold tight up there," Bram responded back. "Medical is on the way, Shafin" added Bram recognizing the voice of the other cadet easily.
